Indians 2, White Sox 1 (11-7)
Jim Scott took a 1-0 shutout into the ninth and, along with Eddie Cicotte, he gave up two runs in the ninth to lose it. Cicotte walked home the winning run but it was put on base by Scott.
Buck Weaver singled, doubled and scored a run in the loss. Eddie Collins was a perfect two for two with a triple and a walk.
May 2, 1917 at League Park
White Sox 8, Indians 3 (11-6)
John Collins had a big game at the plate in the White Sox 8-3 win over the Indians. He went four for five with a triple and he scored two runs. Eddie Collins also had a nice game and he went two for five with a double.
Lefty Williams went the distance and he picked up a solid win. He gave up three runs on seven hits and two walks with five strikeouts.
