From Joe Jackson to Frank Thomas, A Look at the Chicago White Sox, Both Past and Present

April 19, 1906 at Bennett Park
Tigers 3, White Sox 1 (1-2)
They weren’t eventually called the hitless wonders for nothing. Tiger starter Bill Donovan held the Sox to a single run on five hits. Frank Isbell had two hits, including a triple, and he scored the White Sox only run. He also made a key mistake. Afte he hit his triple, he tried to score on a ground out on a later at bat but was gunned down easily.
The White Sox did put runners on first and second with nobody, but a failed bunt attempt and a great catch by Matty McIntyre stopped the rally. Frank Smith gave up three runs on eight hits in the loss.
